MISSION & HISTORY.
As a Canadian, we all can resonate with the feeling of missing a piece of home. The founders of Eraa are not any different. The two brothers fled Sri Lanka due to the civil war and made Canada their new found home in the late 1980s. Although they faced many struggles, it was always a delight to come home to authentic home cooked meals. But in the early years this was not possible for growing in the South Asian community with limited access to ethic grocery selection and most importantly spices. In 1994, the brothers opened a small supermarket called Eraa Supermarket at 2607 Eglinton Ave. E. This was a way to bring back the flavours of authentic south Asian fruits and vegetables groceries accessible to the community. Just to fix the missing piece in everyone’s heart.
Over the years, Eraa felt the need to bring more flavour that matched the taste of home. ERAA launched its own brand of products to deliver on quality. Since the start of the branding, it has added from curry powders to instant products to meet the new/young generations at an affordable price.
To cater more customers with more varieties of ERAA brand, our new location was open in 2012 at 5930 Finch Ave. East. This expansion caters not only for the south Asian community but to other communities including the mainstream. Whether it be produce, groceries or fish/meat. You name it, we got it at an affordable price.
ERAA HOPE FOUNDATION.
Eraa Muthiyor Illam, which means Eraa Senior Home, is one of the initiatives by the Eraa Hope Foundation (EHF). It was created with a simple idea, to give elderly people a safe place where they feel cared for and not alone. There are many seniors who end up without support, sometimes due to family situations, sometimes because of financial struggles. This home is meant to bring them together and give them a sense of comfort and belonging.
Right now, the plan is to support around 75 residents. Each person comes with their own story, and many have gone through difficult situations where they were left without proper care. The goal here is to give them stability, respect, and a place that actually feels like home, not just a facility.
Day to day, the focus is on making sure their basic needs are taken care of in a consistent and respectful way. That means good food, a clean and comfortable place to live, proper clothing, and access to medical care when needed. Just as important, they have people around them, someone to talk to, and a sense of community.
At the end of the day, Eraa Muthiyor Illam is about something simple, making sure no senior feels forgotten, and giving them a place where they can live with dignity and peace.

Eraa Supermarket is the supermarket division of Eraa Group, a family owned business, was founded in 1994 to provide an affordable variety of South Asian products to everyone’s home. With that goal in mind, and all of your support, we have now been able to expand our operations while offering the same great products at two locations, to better serve you.

Eraa Catering and Bakery was established in 2015 in Toronto, Ontario. Eraa Catering and Bakery been severing over 100,000 customers in the Scarborough-Rouge Park community.
